I’m a macro nut!  I’ve always had a fascination with the insect world for as long as I can remember.  Here is a small collection of images I’ve taken over the past few years.  Thanks for looking.

Marco photography as I’ve mentioned in a previous post is pretty amazing to me. To be able to see things magnified which you can’t see with the naked eye fascinates me to no end. If you are in the market for a macro lens, don’t pass up Sigma’s line of lenses. Read More

A little about me:

When I was 5 maybe 6 years old my Uncle Frank gave me a book about insects and the images were fascinating to me. I never knew there were so many different shapes, sizes, colors, types, etc.  This is  the earliest memory I can trace back too when it comes to my love for the creepy crawlies.  I do remember catching dragonflies when we lived in Florida and letting them loose in our house.  My poor mother! Lets fast forward a number of years and I just purchased my first macro lens.  The Canon 100mm macro… what a great lens! I had the Canon 20d at the time and we were living in Okinawa. Lots of bugs!  I didn’t have a clue about macro photography.  Read More

A great day of shooting at the Desert Botanical Gardens.  Lots of plants and cactus blooming right now. With the lack of rain and the freezes we have had, this might be the best place at the moment to photograph desert poppies.   The butterfly pavilion is in full force.  If you do decide to go take pictures in the butterfly area, get there when the place opens. I recorded  this short video a few years ago…  I will shoot it again shortly.  But… for the time being have a look and let  me know what you think.  The multicolored water shots had a few dvds in the water bouncing the colors back from the flash. Same principle as the original video. Read More
