A group of us got together to photograph street shots on Mill Ave in Tempe AZ. This was just a fun shoot with the idea we would ask complete strangers if we could take their photos. It was a blast! Have a look in my gallery page for the Mill Ave shoot… many more images here. Have a look at how we set it up.
The End Result
How it was shot
To keep things really simple and most of all.. to not tie up peoples time we placed 5×5 piece of white seamless paper on a wall. The area was in covered shade and facing to the north. Some what of a north light studio if you will…just on location. A white 42″ reflector was used to provide fill light. I shot these images fairly shallow at F/4.0 to just have the focus areas being the face.
This guy was a real character. Lots of fun to work with… in about 45 sec of shooting these were my favorite shots from the day.
A simple reflector and some covered shade can really bring your images to the next level. The black and white conversion was accomplished with the Nik Silver eFex Pro plug-in and I dodged and burned in some of the highlights and shadows.
